Trendwatch–felt
Felt! Glorious felt! Soft, fuzzy, playful felt. Unless you’ve been living under a rock, you know that felt is one of the hottest trends in scrapbooking, and for good reason. It’s inexpensive, easy to work with, extremely versatile, comes in virtually any color and adds dimension to your page without a lot of bulk. If you’re one of the super creative types, you can even get a sheet of felt at your craft store (most sell them for 4/$1, sometimes even less!) and make your own embellishments.
However, if you’re like me and don’t have the desire to do that, you’re in luck. Many companies are making felt embellishments these days, and some are making it easier than ever to use:
1) American Crafts–they were one of the first companies to jump on the felt bandwagon with their Greenhouse Felt Flowers. These can be attached with a brad in the center, or with your tape runner.
2) Queen & Co.–they rocked the world of felt with their die cut borders. Their initial release of 3" thick flower borders was so popular that they came back this summer with a variety of styles and colors, most of which are self-adhesive!
We’ve seen other trends come as an offshoot from felt, namely fleece, velvet and other types of fabric! Watch the HSC kits in the coming months for all your favorite products!
